This Week in Automation: Google Sheets, Make AI Agents, Introducing n8n 3.0

The GoHighLevel, Make, n8n updates worth knowing this week — and how I would use each one to save your team time and win more customers.

Every week I go through what GoHighLevel, Make and n8n have released and pick the updates that can actually help a business grow. Here is what stood out this week, what it means for you, and how I would put it to work.

Google Sheets: Trigger Workflows from New Spreadsheets, Rows, and Worksheets

What’s new

GoHighLevel shipped this on October 27. In short: Turn new and updated Google Sheets data into the starting point for your automations. Use the spreadsheets your team already works with to begin the next step in HighLevel when new data arrives or existing data changes. Teams often capture inquiries, project details, and reporting data in Google Sheets.

Why it matters for your business

Most teams still run part of the business in spreadsheets. Connecting them to automation removes copy-and-paste work and missed updates.

How I’d put it to work

I would connect your sheet so every new or updated row creates the contact, task or follow-up automatically.

Make AI Agents: Trust through transparency

What’s new

Make shared this on October 23. In short: Make AI Agents now live inside your Make automation canvas. Build, debug, and share agents visually with full transparency, file support, and reusable patterns. They wanted AI that co-existed alongside their automation. The new Make AI Agents aren't isolated any more. They're built, run, and debugged inside the same canvas as your scenarios.

Why it matters for your business

AI agents are only useful when they are reliable. Improvements like this make it safer to let AI handle real customer conversations.

How I’d put it to work

I would use this to build an AI agent that answers enquiries from your own knowledge base and hands over to a person the moment it is unsure.

Introducing n8n 3.0

What’s new

n8n shared this on October 27. In short: It clears out legacy features, tightens security defaults and reworks parts of how n8n runs under the hood. The short version: the beta is available today and the stable release follows in early December. Because 3.0 includes breaking changes, some workflows and settings may need updates before you upgrade.

Why it matters for your business

Stable integrations mean your tools keep talking to each other even as they change, so nothing silently breaks.

How I’d put it to work

I would connect your CRM, booking and payment tools with integrations designed not to break when an app updates.

Slack integration: 5 new triggers for workflows

What’s new

GoHighLevel shipped this on October 27. In short: You can now start HighLevel workflows from Slack activity with five new instant triggers. Respond to direct messages, channel joins, app mentions, channel messages, and emoji reactions from the workflow builder. Team requests, conversations, and feedback often begin in Slack.

Why it matters for your business

More ways to start and run automations means fewer manual steps between a customer action and your response.

How I’d put it to work

I would turn this into a workflow that reacts the moment something happens, so your team never has to remember the next step.

Shadow AI: Without a governance strategy, business critical decisions are made by AI

What’s new

Make shared this on October 23. In short: Your approved AI tools can still make decisions nobody signed off on. Learn how to spot Shadow AI early and turn it into a governance advantage. Imagine a support team using AI to summarize incoming customer requests. It works, so someone connects it to the knowledge base. Then it starts drafting replies.

Why it matters for your business

As AI spreads across a team, clear rules keep customer data safe and decisions accountable.

How I’d put it to work

I would set up your AI automations with clear permissions, logging and human approval steps where they matter.

AI Agent Memory: How LLM Agents Manage State in Production

What’s new

n8n shared this on October 23. In short: An LLM has no memory of its own. Each request is independent: the model reads the prompt, returns a response, and keeps nothing. Send a second request and, as far as the model knows, the first never happened. That is fine for a one-shot question.

Why it matters for your business

AI agents are only useful when they are reliable. Improvements like this make it safer to let AI handle real customer conversations.

How I’d put it to work

I would use this to build an AI agent that answers enquiries from your own knowledge base and hands over to a person the moment it is unsure.

Workflow Maps: Understand and manage automations with the AI assistant

What’s new

GoHighLevel shipped this on October 27. In short: You can now use an AI assistant directly inside Workflow Maps to ask questions about your automations, investigate issues, organize the map, and request workflow builds or edits. The assistant uses your workflow and map context to help with account-specific questions and actions.

Why it matters for your business

More ways to start and run automations means fewer manual steps between a customer action and your response.

How I’d put it to work

I would turn this into a workflow that reacts the moment something happens, so your team never has to remember the next step.

Profit-based ad optimization: how to send net profit to Meta Conversions API with Make

What’s new

Make shared this on October 23. In short: Stop optimizing ads for revenue. Learn how to calculate net profit per order in Make and send it to the Meta Conversions API. Find more profitable customers. Your ROAS looks great. Still, your accountant says you lost money.

Why it matters for your business

Feeding better data back to ad platforms helps them find more of the customers who actually make you money.

How I’d put it to work

I would connect your sales data to your ad accounts so campaigns optimise for real profit, not just clicks.
